Portfolio/Binder Guide 

About Your Computer Science Binder (a.k.a. Portfolio)

All students enrolled in CS11 are required to have a binder dedicated to Computer Science. Your binder should have 5 sections dedicated to the areas as listed below.  You may have addition sections (pertaining only to computer science) following the required 5 sections dedicated to computer science with the approval of your instructor. No other subject matter is allowed. 

Why a Computer Science Portfolio?  Your portfolio will help you:

      1.  Understand what you need to accomplish and succeed in computer science.
2.   Review important concepts essential for advancing in class & final exam.
3.  Keep essential lessons learned in Computer Science.
4.   Collect and organize the best examples of your work that demonstrate your skill, knowledge, and know-how.

Evaluation

Your CS Binder will be evaluated each month or when announced. The grade you earn will be based on the sum of points received: 
Outstanding = A(100-90),  Satisfactory=B(89-80), Marginal= C(79-71), Unsatisfactory=D(70 and below)   
For example, a binder prepared as instructed earns 60 points, plus  a max of 40 more points for being kept up-to-date. 

Criteria for preparing your binder

·         The binder must be a 1-inch, 3-ring, blue binder, with approved label on the end. No other markings allowed on the binder. (2pts)

·         Cover page (page 1) (3pts) 
- Put the title Computer Science on the top fourth of the page. 
- Put a clipart related to technology in the middle of the page. 
- Put your full name and class period, use 14-20 point font size, on the bottom fourth of the page. 

·         Table of Content (page 2) (5 pts)
- Use Times New Roman, font size 14 point and top-center the title Table of Content. 
- Repeat the content below "What to keep in each section" 

·         Section  pages (pages 3-7) (10pts for each section)
- Make the size of the title for each Section about 20 point font size, centered on the top fourth of the page. 
- Put an image related to technology in the middle of the page.

Make the section sub title, for example About Computer Science, about 20 point font size, centered on the bottom fourth of the page.
- Use the following as titles and subtitles:

§         Section 1 -   About Computer Science 

§         Section 2 - Question of the Day

§         Section 3 - Lesson Learned

§         Section 4 -  Handouts & Reviews

§         Section 5 -  Portfolio & Skills List
