     Elizabeth is a successful piece for me because I like the unusual mounting and style that I developed. I was motivated by the decorative/pattern movement that pushed female contributions into the realm of “High Art.” I will continue this piece as a series filling free formed shells with sensual flowers.

     Elizabeth is a juxtaposed contradiction of abstraction and realism. A three dimensional illusion of irises is created through color modeling and shapes over lapping. The papers torn edge is embellished with gold trim. The gloss protected paper is adhered to a sculpted free formed black canvas. This canvas border appears a shell of a form that is cut in half to reveal the enlarged beauty within. The traditionally depicted flowers are embedded in a dark sensual environment of expressive line and evening emotions.
