Form Name: RI (Fire, Sun)

  • The principle of Ri is expressed through enthusiasm in practice. Man needs fire to survive, however fire can have catastrophic results.
  • The movements of fire are that of flickering energy with an unpredictable pace and continuous movement.
  • Movements of this form should emulate the qualities of fire, with a variety of quickness and strength, while always maintaining complete control.
  • Ri is the third form practiced, in addition to the previous forms, in WTF Taekwondo toward promotion to Green belt.

1. Turn left 90 degrees; low block (left hand); walking stance (left forward)

2. Stationary; front snap kick (right leg)

3. Move forward; center punch (right hand); front stance (right forward)

4. Stationary; center punch (left hand); front stance (right forward)

5. Turn right 180 degrees, low block (right hand); walking stance (right forward)

6. Stationary; front snap kick (left leg)

7. Move forward; center punch (left hand); front stance (left forward)

8. Stationary; center punch (right hand); front stance (left forward)

9. Turn left 90 degrees; high knife hand chop (right hand); walking stance (left forward)

10. Move forward; high knife hand chop (left hand); walking stance (right forward)

11. Turn left 90 degrees; single knife hand guarding block (left hand); back stance (left forward)

12. Move left foot only; center punch (right hand); front stance (left forward)

13. Move right foot only; single knife hand guarding block (right hand); back stance (right forward)

14. Move right foot only; center punch (left hand); front stance (right forward)

15. Turn left 90 degrees; inside block (right hand); walking stance (left forward)

16. Move forward; inside block (left hand); walking stance (right forward)
