I grew up in New York City and riding trains for the 21 years that I lived there. They weren't exactly steam locomotives but the ones in grand central station ...Wow! Now those were something else. I still remember looking around those big dark green Pullman Trains with straw mesh seats, dim lights that appeared almost yellow, conductors with their flat top conductor hats, and pocket watches. Grand Central Station was huge! The trains were bound for places like Pennsylvania, Washington, Chicago, and anywhere else...out of the city.
